1871 Scottish census: Septimus Davis, 13, a pottery painter, is living at Corbie Hall, Boness, West Lothian, with Barbara Davis 44 who is described as his mother, but is most likely his step mother and his sisters Theresa 25 and Emma 14. Barbara is described as "Wife of head(head)" in the transcript. She is described as housekeeper and her place of birth is given as Bathgate, Linlithgowshire. No original available on line.

1891 Septimus H Davies, 31 born in England is living at 40 Broomlands Street, Renfrewshire with his wife Magdelena, 27. He is working as a pottery gilder and draughtsman.

1901 Septimus H Davies, 43 an iron foundry manager is living at 1 Woodford Terrace, Boness, West Lothian with his wife Magdelena D Davies and their servant Lizzie Park.

1911 On 13th August 1911 a Septimus H Davies a Foundry manager born in England, aged 50 arrived in Quebec, Canada from Glasgow on the Hesperian together with his wife Mrs S.H Davies aged 48, born in Scotland, a housewife. Both indicated they could read and write and it seems to indicate that they had previously visited Canada. They were making their way to Calgary, Alberta.

1916 Septimus H Davies appears in the census: Aged 54 and now a Canadian citizen, originally from England, speaker of English, date of immigration 1911 he is living at in district 219, 12 Avenue, NW, Calgary East, Alberta with his wife Magdelena Davies, 52 born Scotland but also now Canadian. Septimus is working as a caretaker at the Lodge and both give their religion as presbyterian.

1821 Septimus, aged 60 is still living in the same district of Calgary and still employed as a caretaker, now for the marine hall, with an income of 1800. He speaks English but not French. His wife Magdelena, 5, is still with him. They are living at 264 12th Avenue. He owns the house which is made of wood.

Septimus's death is recorded in Calgary, Alberta on 27 March 1933. He is buried in Union Cemetery, Calgery, Section C, Block 7, Plot 2

Prominent Member of Masonic Order, S.H. Davies, Dies
A prominent member of the Masonic fraternity and well-known and liked all over the province, Septimus Henry Davies, 219 Twelfth avenue northwest, died Monday morning at the age of 74 years. He had been ill for four days.
The late Mr. Davies, who was born at Newcastle-On-Tyne, England, came to Calgary 22 years ago where he had since resided. He was formerly caretaker of the old Masonic Temple now the site of the Hudson’s Bay Company store, and retired when the new temple was built.
Mr. Davies was a 32nd degree Mason. He was initiated into Douglas Lodge No. 409, Grand Lodge of Scotland, May 8, 1908. He was a member of Perfection Lodge No. 8 A.F. and A.M., a member of Bowness Chapter No. 95, Royal Arch Masons, a member of Cyprus Preceptory of 33 K.T., a member of the Scottish Rite Masons, of Red Cross Council, Douglas Chapter No. 95, the Royal Ark Mariner Lodge...
He is survived by his wife, in Calgary, and a sister in England. Interment will be made in the Union cemetery.
