Shared note
|
Was he also a Captain who had served in India. It appears so. In his brother Alfred’s memoir, Alfred is a member of the 69th regiment and he mentions that his brother was the Captain of his company in the same regiment. Is this the Captain Jenour whoes death is recorded in the Lincolnshire Chronicle on 7th April 1848? Death record 1848 Q2 Gainsborough, Matthew Jenour vol14 p249. He had also lived in Beckingham, Nottinghamshire. Could this explain why Thomas’s son Constantine was born in Nottinghamshire? (Sutton in Ashfield is about 30 miles away). Letter written by Joshua Jenour to Secretary of State for Home Office, appealing a conviction for vagrancy in 1837 cites his brother Matthew, Captian Jenour, half pay formerly of 69th regiment. |
