Shared note

Birth was registered as Frederick Daniel Gardner as he was born slightly before his parents married. However, Daniel acknowledged he was the father and it was also confirmed by investigation for war pension in 1918. Frederick Daniel appears to have used the name Cooper throughout his life.

1911 Aged 4 living with his mother and brother at 220 Oundle Road Woodstone Peterborough, Woodstone Rural, Huntingdonshire, England. His father Daniel is not listed as present on the day of the census. His place of birth is given as New Bilton, Warwickshire.

1919 According to army documents pertaining to his father, Frederick was living at 63 New Street, New Bilton, Warwhickshire.

1921 Frederick Daniel Cooper, 14, an errand boy for a tailor and gent's outfitters, born New Bilton, Warwickshire,is living at 60 New Street, New Bilton, Warwickshire with his aunt Sarah Elizabeth Bryan (nee Gardner), 41 born 1880 in Napton, Warwickshire and her husband William Edward Bryan, aged 40 also born in 1880 at New Bilton. William is employed as a watchman at BJH Co Electrical Engineers.
Also living there are:
Frederick's cousin Edward George Bryan, a 17 year old iron turner, working for the same employer as his father, born in New Bilton;
George Gardner his uncle (William Bryan's brother in law (brother of Sarah), a 30 year old Coremaker, born Stockton, Warwickshire, now retired through Disablement In the war (Worked for Daimler Motor Car Co Ltd, Coventry), single;
Elsie Lawrence Gardner, his aunt, (William Bryan's sister in law) aged 21 born 1900 in New Bilton, Warwickshire. She is single works as a booking Clerk, also at BJH Co Elecrical Engineers, described;
Both Frederick, 14 and his cousin George,17 are both still part time students. Both Frederick's parents are recorded as dead.

1939 Register shows Frederick D Cooper born 14 March 1907, married living at 26 St Catherines Rd, Luton, Bedfordshire with Kate Cooper born 30 April 1908 (married), presumably his wife and who I presume to be their daughter Betty Cooper born 23 April 1934, at school. Frederick’s personal occupation is given as Toolroom turner and universal grinder. He is further listed under column headed Instructions as Air raid Warden number 482. Kate’s occupation is described as unpaid domestic duties as is that of a fourth occupant Dora Parsons, married, born 15 Feb 1915. She is marked with red ink asterisk meaning of which is not clear. No relationship to Frederick and Kate is given.

Further along the same road is a family named Gardener which was maiden name of Frederick’s mother Ethel. Maybe some connection.

Betty’s surname Cooper is crossed out (in green ink) and replaced with Burgoine. A green ink note in margin says 0-3-65 CR283BD. She maaried Bernard Burgoyne in 1954.

Kate is probably Kate Hinchcliffe who married Frederick D Cooper in 1930 Q3 (7b/796) at Nottingham.

Death registration for Frederick Daniel Cooper, born 14 March 1907 recorded in Luton, (Date of reg 0895) Q3 1995 C47F/117
