Shared note

Parents John and Joane Jenour. Date range fits, but no coroborating evidence other than names and approximate place that this couple are same as Matthew’s parents, but it is typical for at least one son, often the eldest, to be named after father.

A John Jenour aged 28 married Mary Botfield aged 17 on 26 October 1700 after making marriage allegation the previous day. The allegation contained consent of Mary Wood widowed and remaried mother of Mary sworn by Hezikiah Wood, her step father.

His parish is given as St Sepulchre and hers as Whitefryers.

Age 28 gives birth about 1672, so not exact match but a possibility.

It appears that John and Mary went on to have at least two children:
Mary Susanna chr 18 Aug 1702 at St Sepulchre, resident Black? Court, she was one day old; and
Hezekiah resident Ash tree Court, Whitefryiers(?) christened in June 1704 at St Bride’s Fleet Street. Register difficult to read but appears to say buttonmaker & is a printer.

A John Jenour of Whitefryers died and was burried at St Sepulchre, Holborn (in North) on 3 Aug 1705. No further information given.
