The Roe family owned the manor house in Hadley from 1669 to 1848. Robert Roe was the schoolmaster for the Adams school in Wem and was living there when they had the great fire in 1667. He later bought the Hadley manor from his father and used it for a school. William Banks (1679-1758) his son in law, went to school there and then attended Trinity College at Cambridge.

From “The History of Wem” by Samuel Garbet http://www3.shropshire-cc.gov.uk/roots/places/wem/garbet/wem32.htm
Page on The Chief Masters of Wem School. “ROBERT ROE, gentleman, was born at Arleston, near Wellington, in Shropshire, where his father had been a noted schoolmaster. In his time March 3rd, 1677, the great fire happened, which consumed his dwelling house, the birth place of the founder, and reduced him to the necessity of living with his family in the upper story of the school, where the present library was his bed-chamber, and the other room was his kitchen, the chimney there being run up at his expense. He rebuilt that part of the school house, which is brick; and in 1679, purchased the new pool meadow. He was a man of large stature, but of mean capacity; so that he did neither shine in conversation, nor was able to keep up the reputation of the school. His heavy genius, and the loss of his scholars exposing him to affronts, he thought fit to relinquish a post which he could not keep with honour. He retired to Arleston, and not long after purchased the lordship of Hadley, near Wellington, where he taught a private school in the manor house, and sent his two sons to the university of Cambridge.”

A Robert Roe was christened on 27 MAR 1614 at Saint Leonards, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England, father Richard Roe, IGI C085821

are either of these related in any way?

Robert Roe died in 1717. In his will he mentions his son Thomas, widdow of his son John, son WIlliam, daughters Elizabeth Mark, Doorothy Banks, Jane Stuart and another presumably unmarried daughter (?) Alice who is the executrix. Also mentions her mother, but not as far as I can make out by name.

FamilySearch notes on Robert Roe give his date of birth as 1645 and name his parents as William Roe (1618) and Isabel Wilkinson. It goes on to say he married Elizabeth Stedman on 6 January 1669 in Ludlow, Shropshire and that they had at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. In 1690 his occupation is listed as school master in Hadley, Shropshire. He died on 4 June 1717 in Wellington, Shropshire at the age of 72.

Some of this matched what we have already discovered but it gives a slightly different date of birth and also names his mother.
