Hannah married James Martin on 8th August 1838 at St Peter ad Vincula, Stoke on Trent. She was a minor and he was of full age. His father was John Martin. Both James and Hannah lived in Hanley at the time of their marriage. Hannah Martin was a witness at the marriage of her brother Thomas in 1861. James is described as a farmer. 1851 Hannah, 29 and Martin 38, both born in Leek are living at the Hamil, Burslem, He is a farm labourer. With them are their children Mary 10, James 8, Thomas 7, Sarah 5, John 3 and Jane 1. All the vhildren except Jane were born in Leek. Jane was born in Burslem. HO107/2003 1861 James, 60 a labourer born Cheadle, and Hannah 39 (should be 49) his wife, born Leek, are living at Sneyd, Burslem, with their children James 20, Thomas 16, both born in Leek, Jane 10, Maria 8, Selina 6 and George Henry 4 the younger four born in Burslem. Also living there is George Walker 19 a servant. Mary (who would be about 20, Sarah about 15 and John who would be about 13 are no longer with them. It is possible that they have moved out and are lodging for work, but checking the parish burial records shows that 5 year old John Martin died in 1853 and was buried at St Pauls Burslem. I haven't yet found anything conclusive for Mary or Sarah).
