Possible christening record for Henry Adamson born 2nd Jan 1804 and baptised 8th April 1804, in parish of Washington, parents “John Adamson, native of Chester le Street by his wife Elenor Coxon of N of Long Ellingham, Nthb (although this may be the Henry living in Chester le Street in 1841. In 1851 Henry,44 born Washington is still in Chester le Street with a new wife Elizabeth aged 32).

However, a more likely baptism record is from parish of Gainford, Durham. Birth 24 April 1804 and baptism 16 Jun 1804. Parents William Adamson, a mason and Mabel Robson. The detailed baptism record doesn't give the year but it says:
Henry Adamson born April 24th, bap. June 16th, 5th son of William Adamson of Gainford, Mason (son of William Adamson) native of Coniscliffe, by his wife Mabel Robson (daughter of John Robson (Native of Gainford).

Henry’s name is from marriage certificate of John. On baptism register his occupation is mason.

Henry Adamson married Elizabeth Dixon on 23 September 1826 ain the parish of Gainford, Durahm where they both lived. The witnesses were Mary Adamson, Ann Sinclair, Thomas Graham and Cuth Graham.

1841 Henry Adamson, 31 (?) stonemason and his wife Elizabeth, 35 living in Ardwick Manchester with John 14, a tailor, Henry 9 and Elizabeth 3. States all born in county of Lancashire, but this is unlikely. from later census records the adults and John were almost certainly born in Gainford, Co.Durham. Herny could be a member of a prominent family of stone masons and builders form the Gainford area. HO107/578/2. However, this Henry could be too young.

Alternatively there is another family:
Henry Adamson 35 a stone quary man and his wife Elizabeth 40 with the children Margret 15, John 12 and Ellen, 12 living at Eighton Banks in Chester le Street, Co. Durham. All born in the county (HO107/300/8). This family in Chester le Street may be related but the GRO index shows that the maiden name of the mother of three year old Elizabeth living in Ardwick and born in Manchester is Dixon, so "our" Adamson family has moved from Durham to Manchester.

1851 Henry, Stone mason, 47 living at Market Place, Poulton from Gainford with his wife Elizabeth 47 and daughter Elizabeth, 13 scholar. They had a lodger Richard Sweethan, 26 a Weslyan Minister from Leigh and a visitor, William Lancaster a clerk to a cotton manufacturer from Burnley.

1861

1871
Henry, 66, a stone mason from Gainford and his wife Elizabeth 67 from Barnard Castle, Co. Durham, were lodging in Preston with the family of John Stewart, 50, a brush maker from Liverpool.

A Henry Adamson born about 1804 died in Preston aged 67 1871 Q3 8e 312
