William WOOLLISCROFT,
of The Harracles, 9 May 1821, 72
Mary, w, 3 April 1827, 77

Parish register shows a William Wooliscroft was christened on 17 Sept 1748 at Cauldon SS Mary and Lawrence, Staffordshire. His parents were John and Mary Wooliscroft. This is likely match based on age and location.

A William Wooliscroft married a Mary Chapman at Cheddleton on 20 August 1766 M104082
A William Wooliscroft married a Mary Bloor at Waterfall on 21 May 1772 M045882

On 20 AUG 1766 at Cheddleton in county of STS Groom William WOOLLISCROFT Status – Occupation – Residence Cheadle in county of – Notes – Bride Mary CHAPMAN Status – Occupation – Residence Cheddleton in county of STS Notes – Banns or Licence licence

On the dates so far identified for the birth of the children, the most likely spouse is Mary Bloor. Waterfal also appears frequently in connection with other family events. A Mary Blore was born in Waterfall in about 1753, parents Isaac and Alice according to an unsourced IGI members record.

According to information from Wooliscroft Families in Leek Staffordshire 18th century at freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~williscroftonename/gardiner.html
“Towards the end of the 18C there are other references to the Woolliscroft family in the Leek parish records. William Woolliscroft and his wife Mary (nee Bloor) had taken over the tenancy of Harracles Hall Farm and the references are to members of their family.”

It is possible that the children listed for William and Mary have mixed up these two. However, a number of the names and the estimated years of birth are cross referenced to the memorial inscription from William’s gravestone.

Extract from Will confirms relationship between William and Mary Wooliscroft and George and Ann Rider.
