Birth registration 1851 and 1861 living with parents. 1871 A Mary Harvey, 29 born Kerry Hill, Staffordshire is working as a cook in the household of Sophia Blakely a 67 year old annuitant at 253 Clapham Road, Lambeth, London. (RG10/678) 1881 A Mary Harvey, 39, born Stoke on Trent is living at Barlaston Hall as cook and housekeeper in the household of James Meakin, 67 a manufacturer (is this the pottery owner?) (RG11/2695/15 p22) Is the Mary Harvey in the above entries the same as those below, which are definitely for the family we are interested in. 1891, Giving age as 50 and birth place as Wetley Moor, Stoke, Mary, head of household and still single is a farmer at Baddeley Lane, Norton in the Moors. With her are her brother Jospeh, 56 a gardener from Dilhorne and her uncle John Prince, 67 born Wetley Moor, Stoke who is visiting. Also Jane Deaville, 14 Mary’s niece born Smallthorne. (RG12/2184/114 p33). Is this any connection with Jane: gravestone inscription from Bucknall cemetery. John (b about 1824) must be Martha Prince’s brother (Martha Prince is Mary’s mother) 1901 Now giving her age as 55 ( too young!) and still single, Mary still a farmer working on her own account is back at Wetley Moor. Her brother Joseph, 64, single, a gardener still lives with her as does 38 year old Elizabeth Harvey, single, born, Kerry Hill, described as her daughter. Is this the Elizabeth that was with her grandmother Sarah Harvey, nee Prince when she was a child and the Margaret (most likely Margaret Elizabeth) born in April 1861? (RG13/2603/72 p38 1911 Mary, now 69 is still living at Wetley Moor, Bucknall and is still a farmer and head of household. She gives her place of birth as Wetley Rocks. With her are her daughter Elizabeth (probably Margaret Elizabeth), aged 49 born in Stoke on Trent, single and a Dairy worker, and two cousins Arther Myatt 16 a farm labourer and Kathleen Myatt 72, single and old age pensioner, Arthur born in Stoke on Trent & Kathleen at Weltey Rocks. Mary made her mark rather than sign her name on the census. Birth registration of Mary's daughter? Who are the cousins? MYATT, CATHARINE PRINCE Catherine is likely to be the daughter of Richard Myatt and Elizabeth Prince who married in Stoke on trent on 19 December 1831, they were both of the parish and neither had been previously married. The witness appears to have been the parish clerk, Thomas Lake. Possible death registration: |
