According to family source, Charles Parr, gransdon of James Davies, Hannah daughter of James, married Stephen Parr. See memo of Hannah, transcribed by Charles in 1863.
1841 Hannah (35-39) and Stephen, a potter, (40-44) were living in Mill Street, Hanley, next door to Elizabeth Davies. With them were their two children Charles, 11 and Sarah, 7. All born in the county. The neighbour Elizabeth, a baker (55-59) may be her step mother. HO107/990/10
1881 Aged 76, widowed, living at 14 Windmill Street, Hanley with her granddaughter Elizabeth, single, 28 and a dress maker. Both born locally in Hanley. Hannah’s occupation is “Income House Proprietor” (RG11/2719/42 p 21)
This person does not appear to be the Hannah Davies who was living at High Street, Hanley next door to David Davis in 1841 although they would appear to be about the same age. The neighbour’s age was given as 40 and her occupation potter (was she single?)
(Note: A Hannah Davis was christened in Stoke on Trent on 2 June 1800, mother named as Lydia Davis - could this be the neighbour? P009961. Her father could be Samuel Davis as there is also a christening record for Lydia on 4 Sept 1803 and her parents are Samuel and Lydia (possibly Greatbach))
The Hannah next door to David in 1841 said she was not born in Staffordshire so this is an inconsistency. Later there is a Samuel Davis living with Harriot Rider (nee Bentley) and her niece Harriot Davies (daughter of David and Ann) who gives his birth place as Shropshire. Could he be any relation to Hannah. Is he another son of James and Sarah Davies, an older half sibling to David?
